DIY Mickey Mouse Ears Supplies:
To bring your Mickey Mouse ears to life, you’ll need a few basic supplies, all of which can be easily sourced from Amazon:
- Sticky Felt Paper: This self-adhesive felt paper will serve as the main material for your ears. You can choose the classic black color or get creative with different shades or patterns to make your ears unique.
- Disney Shoe Charms: These delightful charms, featuring beloved Disney characters like Mickey, Minnie, or other Disney favorites, add a touch of Disney magic to your DIY project. They come with a small loop at the back for easy attachment.
- Black Headband: The essential base for your Mickey Mouse ears, a black headband provides stability and comfort when wearing your creation. Make sure to select a headband that fits comfortably around your head.
- Hole Punch: A simple hole punch will allow you to create perfectly shaped holes in the felt paper, making it easy to attach the Disney shoe charms to the felt paper.
Step-by-Step Guide:
- Prepare Your Workspace: Find a clean and well-lit area to work on your DIY project. Lay out your supplies, including the sticky felt paper, Disney shoe charms, black headband, hole punch, and something to trace circles for the ears.
- Cut Out the Ears: Measure and draw two identical circles on the sticky felt paper to serve as the Mickey Mouse ears. You can use a template or trace around a circular object of the desired size. I used an iodized salt container that made the perfect-sized circles for these Mickey ears! I left a small flap of fabric between the 2 circles so I could easily wrap the felt around the headband. Carefully cut out the circles using a pair of scissors.
- Create Holes for your Charms: Use your hole punch to add holes to one side of the felt paper. We only added 3 Disney charms to the ears so that they weren’t too heavy, but you can add as many as you’d like.
- Add Disney Shoe Charms: Take your chosen Disney shoe charms and push them through the holes in the felt circles. They might be hard to push through, but you want it to fit tightly in the hole so that they don’t fall out.
- Attach the Ears to the Headband: Position the black headband on a flat surface. Take off the paper backing on the felt paper so that it will be sticky. Carefully align the ears so it wraps around the headband and press the two circles together. Repeat this step with the other felt circle, making sure to align it symmetrically with the first ear.
- Enjoy Your Custom Mickey Mouse Ears: Try on your handmade Mickey Mouse ears and marvel at your creativity! Wear them proudly on your next Disney adventure, themed party, or any occasion that calls for a touch of Disney magic.
Creating your own DIY Mickey Mouse ears using items purchased from Amazon is not only a fun and rewarding craft project but also an opportunity to showcase your love for Disney in a unique and personalized way. With sticky felt paper, Disney shoe charms, a black headband, and a hole punch, you can unleash your creativity and bring the magic of Mickey Mouse to life. So, why wait?
